With a tremendous week of college football down, it is time for Jock Talk to run down Week 1. We will start by handing out this weeks A$$ Whooping. Despite several very deserving candidates, the award this week goes to Turner Gill and the University of Kansas football team.
The Jayhawks were defeated 6-3 by NDSU on Saturday. For those of who who are not aware, the State University of North Dakota Bison hail from Fargo and managed a meager 2-6 record in the Missouri Valley Conference last season. While Ole Miss was also shamefully beat at home by a cupcake (Jacksonville State), the Rebels at least managed to score a few touchdowns. The Jayhawks managed a single field goal against a defense that allowed over 40 points to Sam Houston State last season. Let me repeat my self, Sam Houston State put 40 on a team and the Univeristy of Kansas couldn't reach the endzone once. That is historically bad offense. Kansas kicker Jacob Branstetter missed 2 field goals, ultimately costing his team the win, but Jock Talk believes if you don't reach the endzone against North Dakota State University you don't deserve a win. Turnovers and a new coach falling well short in his debut make this a team award, and its hard to imagine the Jayhawk season ever looking up. On a side note Jayhawk fans, only 56 days until the basketball team opens.
Honorable mention week 1: Ole Miss vs Jacksonville State, Jhernaie Boyd vs Morris Claiborne, Crum and Kok's hopes Boise State's season would end this weekend, Jake Locker hype
