Things to watch heading into week 3

Week 3 is upon.  Not many great games this week, but a lot of very good ones.  Lets go a quick rundown of things to watch:
  • Boise State plays 2 teams from BCS conferences and 10 teams from non-Automatic Qualifiers, the EXACT OPPOSITE of what a championship schedule should look like.  To make matters worse, those 2 BCS teams are a combined 1-3 with a home loss to James Madison.  If Boise wants a shot at the title they need to apocalypticly destroy the rest of their schedule.  They can start this week against Wyoming.  While Jock Talk admits it is stupid to compare how teams play against week competition, Texas beat Wyoming by 27 at home.  Boise could use a 40 point road victory.
  • Two weeks into the season several teams have been untested or seemed bipolar (OU, OSU, KU).  This week a lot of teams are facing their first real competition.  Texas play Texas Tech.  One of these teams will seem legit on Sunday, the other won't.  South Carolina removed Georgia from relevance last Saturday, and Ryan Mallet and the razorbacks need to follow suit if they want to seriously contend in the SEC.  Both Arizona schools are taking on the 2nd tier of the Big 10.  AU hosts No. 9 Iowa and State travels to Madison to face No. 11 Wisconsin.  Both Arizona schools could use these games as coming out parties, and the Big 10 squads can use them to solidify their ranks.
  • UMASS is going to attempt to stop Denard Robinson this week.  Should be a good watch.  If he gets hurt, does Michigan become the least exciting team in College Football?  Knock on wood Rich Rod, knock on wood.
  • Nebraska heads to Washington to kill Jake Locker today.  In an unrelated note, Huskie Coach Steve Sarkisian thinks Reggie Bush is an idiot.  Good luck, Jake.
